The Three Pillars
Every Leif score is built on three core pillars of sustainability. Each pillar is scored independently and combined into an overall rating.
Environmental
Carbon footprint, resource usage, waste management, and ecological impact.
Social
Labor practices, community impact, diversity, and human rights.
Governance
Transparency, ethical leadership, compliance, and accountability.
Data Sources
We aggregate data from publicly available sustainability reports, third-party certifications, regulatory filings, and recognized ESG rating frameworks. Our sources include:
- Corporate sustainability and CSR reports
- Third-party certifications (B Corp, Fair Trade, etc.)
- Industry benchmarks and peer comparisons
- Regulatory compliance records
Scoring Process
Each company is evaluated across multiple indicators within each pillar. Scores are normalized on a consistent scale so you can compare across brands and industries. We regularly update our data to reflect the latest available information.
Transparency
We believe in showing our work. When you view a score in Leif, you can see the breakdown by pillar so you understand exactly where a company excels and where it falls short.
